How safe is the FlexiTrain system?
Because the individual vehicles are small, one would expect them to be extremely vulnerable to collisions. A truck would squash you like a bug if it hit you at high speed

But...
FlexiTrain vehicles are used on their own largely in the urban environment, where speeds are relatively low. This reduces the amount of energy to be dissipated in a collision. Modern micro-cars (for example, the Swiss SMART and Norwegian THINK) are built of deformable thermoplastic panels, and have been successfully crash-tested to European standards. The use of internal airbags has also added enormously to the protection of people in small vehicles.
